Farmer are allowed to sell partial amount of crops under the system. However, to maintain and ensure farmers unity the system encourages farmers to work as a team and sell their product at once through their organizations.
This is happening due to poor information on crops being stored. The project hopes that the establishment of the WRS will improve the update of information and marketing. However, farmers are advised to add value to their product through processing in order to maintain the quality and price of the products.
The TWLB under WIC project has set some amount for doing the minor repair to all pilot warehouses. However, the responsibility of refurbishment of the warehouse is for farmers associations, District council and other potential funder depending on the development/activity priority.
The Warehouse Operator is responsible to insure the warehouse before farmers deposit their commodity. Also the Warehouse Operator signs a bond with the government before starting to operate in the licensed warehouse.
The farmers are advised to store the access kg/bags out of the household food. it is a personal ability/capacity however, the storage can range from 20Kgs and abov
The bank interest is very minimal through the system. However Bank interest always became down as depositor being a good bank customers. However the WIC Project advised farmers to join on SACCOS to increase their capital for saving and lending services.
The period of depositing the grains depend on the depositor needs, However, experience in Tanzania showing the grains to be stored between August-Jan/ February
